The highest climbing wall in the world

In the Netherlands, outside Mount Scenery (a volcano on the island of Saba), the terrain is almost completely flat. But this country can be called a climbing paradise. All because of the largest climbing wall in the world…
This huge climbing wall called Excalibur is 37 meters high and is located in the country of tulips in the city of Groningen. It was built in 2004 by Gert van deer Veen and his climbing colleague Alco Polsa in the centre of the Bjoeks Climb Center.
Reaching the top of the wall is a feat, mainly due to its curvature. The highest point is displaced from the base by 11 meters, so it creates an artificial overhang, encountered while climbing a real mountain.
In order to be properly prepared to conquer this monumental object, it is worth trying something less demanding first. And there is plenty to choose from, because in the centre you can practice on over 115 boulders – which are suitable for beginners as well as for more advanced ones.
The center is open daily until 23:00, and admission for an adult costs 30 euros.
