The door is a guarantee of privacy and peace

Every day we cross the entrance door to our house or apartment several times. Closing them from the inside, each time we are accompanied by the feeling that we are in our world, in our enclave, which should not be disturbed by anyone.
Such an impression, however, will only be provided by good, solid doors, which will provide excellent protection against the cold and effectively reduce the noise of the outside world. So, do we always know how to choose doors to ensure privacy and peace of mind?
We have a huge choice of doors on the market and it is actually very difficult to make a specific decision. Doors are usually made of wood, but you can buy them for both several hundred USD and several thousand USD. Everything depends on the type of wood they are made of. So you can buy pine or spruce doors, but you can also find those made of oak or mahogany. We must admit that wooden doors are very aesthetic, durable and provide good thermal insulation.
Today, however, doors are not only made of wood. Wood-like boards are used, both chipboard, so called MDF, and fibreboard, so called HDF. Both types of boards fill the door and are covered with natural or artificial veneer.
On the market you can also find doors made of PVC, in which various fillings are used. And although this type of door is rarely used in residential construction, it is a door with a high degree of energy efficiency and high sound absorption values. On the other hand, steel doors or those made of aluminium are usually anti-burglary doors, which provide the highest level of security.
In order to choose the best entrance door, you need to pay attention to a number of parameters and features so that they can meet our expectations. Check what is most important when buying an entrance door, and if you do not have experience in this area, choose a company that will provide you with professional advice, such as the one presented on the website.
Door dimensions
This is the basic feature of a door that will make the chosen model the right one for you. The width of the main door leaf should not be less than 90 cm, because only then you can bring in furniture and other necessary equipment without any problems. The door height is usually at least 200 cm. You must remember that the door opening itself must be about 12-15 cm wider than the door leaf, and at the height you must provide an additional 6-7 cm.
Heat transfer coefficient
When buying a main door, you must pay attention to the heat transfer coefficient U, which usually ranges from 1.8 to 2.6 W(m2*K). The closer the door is to 2.6, the greater the thermal insulation. However, it is worth asking whether this coefficient applies to the entire door surface. Sometimes it happens that the coefficient is given only for the area of a door leaf which has been insulated with special foam.
Acoustic insulation
This is a feature that is expressed in decibels (dB). The higher the value of this coefficient, the better the sound absorption. Usually the door is marked with 30 dB. Often, however, there is no such information on the door at all. In such a case, one should pay attention whether special gaskets are installed on the door leaf or on the frame, because it significantly reduces the degree of noise penetration inside and makes the door open and close relatively quietly.
Safety
When choosing the right entrance door for you, it is also necessary to pay attention to the manufacturer’s locks. You have to decide for those that have the appropriate safety approvals. Special anti-burglary hinges and automatic locks are also extremely important, as they effectively prevent unauthorized persons from forcing their way through the door.
