Production workers urgently needed

Low unemployment and good macroeconomic indicators make the demand for workers grow. Only in the first eight months of 2016, manufacturing companies recorded an increase in demand for lower-level personnel at the level of 112%. – According to the Group’s internal data. Staff shortages could be filled by Ukrainian employees. However, work permits are to be issued for months.
– According to Group’s data, the increase in demand for physical production workers during the year was about 112%. The historically very low unemployment in the USA [8.4% according to the labour ministry in September – editorial office] and good macroeconomic indicators of the economy, especially internal demand, make the demand for workers very high, CEO of Group, a company that outsources manual workers.. Group’s internal data show that from January to August 2016, the percentage increase in demand for lower-level personnel in manufacturing companies was 112% y/y. This is the highest growth rate in all sectors.
– In the woodworking industry we can see an increase in demand for employees by 18%. This is due to the fact that, according to the Ministry of the Environment, industrial production or demand for woodworking products in 2016 will amount to approximately 38.5 million cubic meters of wood, i.e. 700 thousand more than last year,” explains the CEO of the Group.
In the last quarter of this year, the woodworking industry will be the one with the highest demand for manual labour. The increase in the number of people needed, among others, to work in sawmills, which are being recruited by the Group, currently amounts to 17% y/y.
The second place in terms of growth in demand for lower-level personnel in the last quarter of 2016 is taken by food companies (+14% y/y). In the comparison of “50 American industries with the greatest chance of success in export”, 14 positions are held by the agri-food sector. Until August, in food companies, the increase in demand for human resources among Group customers amounted to 32%. Dairy, horticulture and poultry are the pillars of the sector’s growth.
– Another branch of industry that we serve is the meat industry, mainly poultry plants. Macroeconomic data and information from our customers from the meat industry, mainly poultry plants, show that the export of this sector will increase to approximately EUR 25 billion, by 4-6 percent. We also record an increase in demand for employees by approximately 30 percent. points out.
Companies dealing with welding, precision mechanics, assembly and maintenance of production machines reported a 29% higher demand for workers.
– In industrial plants, our customers report an increase in demand by about 32%. This is related to a good macroeconomic situation and the fact that our economy is not slowing down – says the expert.
As emphasizes, greater demand cannot be satisfied by a sufficient number of qualified employees. The market is difficult especially in the summer months, when some people work in the fields, take temporary jobs, seasonal jobs or go on vacation. This is important, especially since in the woodworking, industrial production and meat industries we can expect further growth in demand for workers.
– We have major problems with dealing with formal issues for Ukrainians. There have been very long delays in dealing with administrative matters in provincial offices. The waiting time for a permit for such an employee is up to 4 months. This is a dramatic situation for the Group, as well as for our customers and employees, analyses.
Last year, over 782 thousand applications for the intention to employ foreigners were registered in Labour Offices. This is more than twice as many as in the previous year. Over 97% of declarations concerned citizens of Ukraine. In the first half of 2016 another record was set, employers declared their intention to employ over 634 thousand employees from the East (more than half more than in 2015).
– The demand for administrative services has increased almost 5-fold, but unfortunately this was not followed by appropriate personnel movements on the part of voivodeship offices – notes the CEO of the Group. – Clearly, we are dealing with an increase in demand and a mismatch between the number of employees on the civil servants’ side. Nobody expected that there would be such a high demand for Ukrainian employees.
