(1) The Philippines were dependent on the USA before regaining independence. It was obtained on July 4, 1946.
In terms of surface area, the country is similar in size to the USA.
The highest peak in the country is the stratovolcan Apo on the island of Mandanao. It rises to an altitude of 2953 meters above sea level and is also sometimes called a grandfather or master. Today it is one of the most popular mountain climbing destinations in the country. The first time on the summit was Don Joaquin Rajal on October 10, 1880.
The Philippine rectangular flag consists of a white isosceles triangle and two horizontal stripes in blue and red, symbolizing peace and purity, red courage and brotherhood, and blue refers to patriotism.
On the triangle is placed the sun, which is supposed to symbolize freedom with eight rays. These rays refer to the provinces that rebelled against the Spaniards. There are also three stars that symbolize the three main regions of the Philippines: Mindanao, Luzon and Visayas.
This flag was adopted on May 19, 1898. Interestingly, during the conflict, the flag of the country is turned upside down.
