Pavement for drug addicts

In the USA we have mainly pedestrian walkways and a constantly growing base of bicycle lanes. From time to time there are also bus lanes in bigger cities. In China, however, it has been decided to create a zone for … users of mobile devices.
A girl with headphones, a boy texting, is a daily sight that does not impress anyone. Mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, have taken over the life of a person so much that they have become a danger to him or her that he or she is not aware of. Walking on the streets in a larger city has become a danger for pedestrians today, not only because of cars, but because they are too preoccupied with their phones. Despite warnings from the authorities about the possible risks of combining a walk and checking the news on Facebook, the situation remains unchanged.
In one of China’s largest cities, Chongqing, it was decided to set a 30-metre stretch for smartphone addicts. The aim of this project is to increase the safety of the elderly and children – quite often, people looking at phone screens run into other people. The pavement was divided into two lanes, one called “No mobile phones” and the other “Mobile phones. Walking in this zone is at your own risk. It is located in the entertainment district on Foreigner Street.
