Original ideas for a small garden

When designing a large garden, we can fully indulge in fantasy. Not everything has to fit perfectly in it – the vast space will forgive us a stylistic mischasm. A little bit of aesthetic chaos may even be good for her. It’s different when you talk about a small piece of green. Here every shortcoming can be seen as if it were a palm of your hand. However, the arrangement of a modest plot of land does not have to be boring and schematic.
Architecture and layout
In arranging a small garden we can adapt a few rules, which should be followed also in arranging a small apartment. The first and most important rule is that you need to be modest. Too many ornamental elements and a multitude of plants is a murder for a small garden. Similarly, the accumulation of furniture and trinkets in a small apartment is only conducive to tightness. In a small garden most space should be given to the lawn, and plants, decorations and utensils should be kept to a minimum and their arrangement should be carefully planned. Books and manuals on home and garden care suggest that a small garden should be divided into zones, which is also useful when furnishing studios or small studios. In the garden it will be a mandatory holiday zone, and in addition, we can create a barbecue area, a playground for children or a piece of land that we will devote to the cultivation of herbs. The borders between them are best drawn with the use of low, stone walls or paths, which will additionally enlarge the space optically. However, instead of a concrete cube, let’s lay them with wooden elements or clinker – this is a less common, but certainly more attractive solution.
Take into account that on a small plot of land we will not place all the elements typical of garden aesthetics. A gazebo, a pergola, a pond and a swing are really too much. Instead of a pond we can install a spring, and a standard swing can be replaced by a few cocoon-type swings or hang a hammock.
Plants for a small garden
The basis of any garden, regardless of its size, is of course plants. What would they do harm and what would help a small garden?
Vegetation on a small plot is composed in such a way that it does not take up too much space and does not disturb the proportions. A good choice are small perennials, shrubs and small trees. A hit in the bull’s eye will be the establishment of small leaved plant beds, giving a lot of flowers of small size. If, on the other hand, we like the plant, which normally takes up a lot of space, it is worth looking around for its miniature version. Originally a bonsai tree is presented. In a small garden, a significant part of vegetation should also include long-term and evergreen species.
In turn, as a fence in such conditions a vine is going to be an excellent choice. It will create an interesting, green screen, separating us from our neighbors or the street. This is a much better idea than putting up clumsy structures or planting a line of trees that will take away our valuable space.
