Opportunities and challenges for the rental industry aut

For several years now, the car rental industry has been growing significantly. According to research conducted by the American Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association, the Rent a Car market grew by 19.7% y/y last year. The future is therefore optimistic and there are no signs that this will change. Is this really the case? One of the largest car rental companies in the USA, will talk about it.
Poles are more and more willing to rent cars, both for individual needs and for companies. Currently I can see
5 directions in which the car rental industry is gradually developing.
B2B potential
Until recently, the majority of cars in company fleets were leased, now the trend is changing in favour of leased cars. Why? Companies have noticed that it pays to rent. Its cost is similar to maintaining one’s own fleet, but it gains something much more important – peace and diversity. The company is not worried about insurance, maintenance or servicing. What is more, it can exchange its fleet much more often and not worry about selling second-hand cars. For example, during a year the company has the right to exchange a car for a new model even three times. At the same time, the company may change the class of the car to a higher or lower class.
I suppose that in the near future companies will increasingly often move away from the multiplication of their own fleet in favour of using companies specialized in comprehensive car rental. I believe that this trend
over time, it will switch from large to small and medium sized companies. We are already observing such a trend.
Car Sharing – ecological sharing of city cars
Currently, car sharing operates mainly on the individual market, in large cities. In the city itself there are several providers of this service. We also believe that there is potential in it, but unlike our competitors, we intend to direct it to the B2B segment, which, although more demanding, in our opinion is also very prospective.
We plan to base our car sharing on cars with alternative sources of propulsion, because we believe that this is the future of the automotive industry. Other cities in the world, but also in the USA, will close their doors to cars year by year.
with a traditional drive system and make them available only for eco-driven cars, e.g. electric cars. We want to be one step ahead of the market and already today, together with a large energy company, we have started a pilot project to test how electric cars will work in everyday use by employees, given the rather limited charging infrastructure in the USA.
We do not limit ourselves to electric cars. We are also looking closely at other alternative sources of propulsion, such as hydrogen cell cars.
Short-term rental as a HR tool
The American labor market suffers from a shortage of specialists, more and more companies are struggling with the lack of proverbial hands to work. Although this sounds unlikely, it is affecting the development of short-term rentals. Why?
Our observations show that making a dream car available to employees for a week or a month has become an interesting and increasingly popular form of appreciating it. The company is a positive emotion and a great joy. By giving the employee a model that he could never afford due to the lack of funds or purely practical reasons, we give him this joy and emotion. An employer starts to be associated with such feelings, and I think that’s what it’s all about!
technologies
technologies have mastered most of the industries, and we have not missed them either. The market is becoming very competitive, so in order to convince the customer to yourself, you have to either significantly lower the price and be the cheapest supply, or compete on the quality and offer valuable added value. In, we focused on modern technological solutions. We are working on an application that on the one hand will facilitate and significantly shorten the rental process, and on the other hand – will provide accurate information about the use of the car or the driving style of the driver. Thanks to such data, every user will be able to
In the future, he will be able to negotiate the insurance rate with his insurer.
Availability anytime, anywhere
The times when the customer was coming to a specific point on his own to pick up the car and then return it slowly pass. The current customer requires mobility as soon as possible and in the place where he is currently located. Going on holiday with his family, he does not want to waste a few hours to pick up the car. He expects that the car will be parked at a certain time in a given place and its release will take literally a few minutes. Only the companies that provide it can count on development and high market position.
In 99 rentals, thanks to the largest network of branches in the USA, understood as a physical branch with an office and full-time staff, we are able to deliver the car to the customer within 2 hours to any place in the USA. Its release will take from 5 to 10 minutes.
Summary
The car rental service is changing dynamically and creates more and more new products dedicated to corporate customers.
