Money trees money on trees

Money trees money on trees

They say money doesn’t grow on trees. True. But in England you can find the trees they are on. Impossible? Possibly!
Mysterious trees can be found all over England, from Yorkshire to Bolton Abbey – most of these trees are located in Cumbria and Portmeirion. It is not clear where the tradition of stamping coins into the bark of the tree comes from. Some people think that it brings happiness and health, others think that the amount of coins minted by one person, estimates the number of their offspring in the future. The practice is a bit strange, but it is still used today.
