Mobility and new technologies are more important to young people than having things

For milleniums, mobility is not only about freedom of movement, contact with modern technologies and the Internet, but also about readiness for change and freedom to make decisions. For young people, these are very important elements, according to the ARC Market and Opinion Research. Mobile devices are the key to the world for them, but on the other hand they are overwhelmed by the amount of information they get through these devices. The new platform is designed to help millenials find their way into the world of new technologies.
– For young people, mobility is a matter of modern technology – the internet, communication and contact over long distances in a very short time. However, it is not the case that the understanding of mobility is limited to solutions that make it easier for them to live a comfortable, flexible life. They have a much broader understanding of mobility. For the vast majority of them, mobility means independence and for almost half of them it means freedom.
The ARC Market and Opinion survey for Volkswagen Financial Services shows that for milleniums and generation X, mobility is no longer only associated with transport and automotive, but is also expressed through the use of new technologies and lifestyles.
– Generation Y generally wants to be mobile and is seen as such. It is first and foremost a question of world view. These are people who are very open to change – 2/3 of them declare that they want to change their environment as often as possible. On the other hand, mobility is connected with professional issues – 2/3 of the respondents say they are considering the possibility of changing their clothes or at least do not rule it out in the future.
More than half of the milleniums have already moved to a completely different region of the country or abroad. Almost half of them do not rule out such a move in the future.
The younger generation wants everything here and now and is focused on the goal. They value independence, freedom of decision making and are open to diversity. The commitment to the freedom of the young generation is reflected in new technologies. The devices are designed to enable freedom of choice, and access to information helps to make informed decisions. Mobility also means ease of movement, e.g. by purchasing an airline ticket over the phone.
– The world is open to us and we can benefit from everything it offers. We can move around the world, communicate through handy mobility with friends. We can make friends and communicate with people we don’t see face to face. Thanks to mobile devices and technologies, we are more flexible in physical terms.

According to him, the milleniums grew up with new technologies, which for them are everyday life almost from the earliest age. In contrast, Generation X had to gradually get used to technological innovations and learn about the possibilities they offer. These two generations also differ in their different approaches to life. This is confirmed by the ARC Market and Opinion survey.
– Milleniums don’t need to own things, they want to use them depending on dependency, so they don’t surround themselves with unnecessary objects. This element of ownership is not necessary for them, e.g. when it comes to housing. They want to travel, they do it freely. They use all the possibilities of this world in any way and at any moment for themselves.
Mobile devices, especially smartphones, are the whole world for milleniums. On the one hand, technologies respond to the growing need for mobility, and on the other hand, they themselves contribute to greater user mobility through the number of available services and applications.
– Therefore, the platforms that are now beginning to exist must make sure that the information is selected according to the needs of the young generation.
The new lifestyle service, which will be premiered during Press Night Motor Show 2017, is supposed to be a response to the perception of mobility by young people.
