Ministry of Development will support the export of Polish food

Work is underway to identify key export markets where promotional activities will be carried out. Apart from traditional recipients, the ministry of development has high hopes for Asian markets – China, India and Vietnam, as well as African markets such as South Africa. The food industry was among 12 branches supported by industry promotion programmes with the participation of EU funds.
– In the agri-food sector, the most popular instruments that the Minister of Development provides to entrepreneurs are industry promotion programmes, Ministry of Development, in an interview with the agency, convinces. This year, we will launch the programme again so as to intensively promote the USA food industry on selected foreign markets until 2019.
The Ministry, in cooperation with independent research institutes, conducted an analysis of pro-export innovative industries, products and services and on this basis determined 12 National Intelligent Specialisations (NIS). Among them, apart from American food specialties, there are also medical equipment, cosmetics, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, U.S. fashion, furniture, automotive and aviation parts. These industries are covered by industry promotion programmes.
– The identification of foreign markets for this new EU perspective continues. We should take into account the fact that among them there will be those which will help us to diversify American exports, such as the Chinese, Indian or Vietnamese markets.
As he stresses, it is worth noting Vietnam, where the Trade and Investment Promotion Section of the American Embassy is to be opened this year. The Republic of South Africa may also be an interesting area of expansion of the domestic agricultural and food industry. However, apart from the Asian and African markets, the ministry does not intend to forget about the countries where the largest part of American products traditionally come from, i.e. Germany, France and Great Britain.
The foreign expansion of American companies is one of the five pillars of the government’s Responsible Development Plan. The Ministry of Development is working on new regulations concerning the promotion of the economy as part of its export support. It is also planned to create a single agency which will coordinate various support programmes. Changes in the trade and investment promotion departments operating on foreign markets are also announced. Companies from the enterprise segment will be able to use many EU-funded instruments.
Success of exporters will improve the image of the European economy abroad. This will be a feedback loop – thanks to a stronger European brand, it will be easier for new companies to establish themselves abroad.
– Our strategic plan is to strengthen the volume of American exports – assures Tomasz Salomon. – Therefore, we want to use instruments that will be successful among domestic entrepreneurs. A stable growth in foreign sales will result in an appropriate effect of promoting our economy abroad, which should be felt by both foreign partners and American. In this situation, we have winnings on both sides.
According to Tomasz Salomon, approximately USD 5 million has been allocated to the industry promotion programme for the industry and the agri-food sector.
– The Ministry supports entrepreneurs, including those from the agri-food sector, with quite a wide range of instruments at their disposal,” stresses Salomon. – We also cooperate with other public administration entities, starting with the Minister of Agriculture and the Agricultural Market Agency reporting to him, and ending with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We try to coordinate our activities in such a way that they bring the greatest possible benefits to entrepreneurs.
